Rive Gauche

This time is absolutely new, yup this is our first experience with a French cuisine.. Feel bored with some cuisine we usually eat like Italian, Japanese, Asian, Indonesian, and others, so we came up with this idea to try French this time.. It's kinda difficult to find French restaurant in Jakarta especially the authentic one, they're still rare..

The inside of the restaurant looks pretty romantic at nite.. The dim light is precisely enhanced a romantic mood here..

Occupied in an old colonial building with a simple and fine decorations, the place really offer a nostalgic tranquility..

The dinner started with a basket of bread and butter dip as a compliment.. Nice..

We have no idea what to eat here, so we asked the waiter for his recommends..

For the appetizer, he recommend us to try French Onion Soup (20K), a sauteed onion is simmered in soup and served with toast bread baked with garlic and cheese.. The taste was really delightful and delicious..

I had Spinach Pasta Fish (75K), a homemade spinach pasta tossed in a light creamy sauce served with pan fried fish.. I forgot the kind of the fish, but it had a nice texture, fresh and not fishy at all.. And the pasta was also great, it has a mild spinach flavor..

And for E, a Chicken Sicily (75K), a grilled chicken poured with sweet and sour Sicilian sauce served with baked potato.. The chicken was braised well and turned out to be tender and juicy.. This was a delicious, filling, and healthy dish..

Finish off the meal with a very refreshing mango liqueur sorbet, the liquid sugar contained a hint of alcohol on it, this is also their compliment..

We both enjoyed the dinner at Rive Gauche.. The price might be on the high side, but worth the bill definitely due to the excellent service, nice ambiance, and great food using quality ingredients.. Really a good place to impress your date..
