The Duck King

We must admit this plan was so sudden and unpredictable. The day before, I just called my friend N ask her to hang out and so lucky that my other friends EF and S also have a free time to go out.

We went to Mal Kelapa Gading, we had three dinner options; Sushi Tei, The Duck King, and Eat and Eat (new food court in MKG 5). Finally, we decided to dine at The Duck King, which is new in MKG. The setup of the restaurant was simple but elegant, furnished in brown elegant wooden furniture.


The wet tissue was free (^_^).

Sweet Crispy Fried Fish

After we had been seated, we got this Sweet Crispy Fried Fish as a compliment. Is it free? After I checked the bill, they charged us 6K for this.

Chinese Tea Jasmine

We all ordered Chinese Tea Jasmine (@7K). It is good to drink hot Chinese Tea when we eat Chinese Foods, because we believed that teas can help to “wash down” the oils from foods in our digestive system.

That nite, we looked for one dish meal and after a tough time browsed their variety menu selections, S and I choose to share Mie Cha Siew Chicken Dry (28K). N and EF ordered Fried Rice Seafood X.O. (34K) to share since we all not very hungry.

Mie Cha Siew Chicken Dry

Mie Cha Siew Chicken Dry came up with a bowl of soup and served in normal portion with slices of chicken cha siew, two pieces of kailan, and their special soy sauce. This dish is just soso for S and me.

Fried Rice Seafood X.O.

N and EF seemed not quite satisfy with their Fried Rice Seafood X.O. Although it named Seafood, but EF said she only can find some shrimps and salty fish. Is it seafood enough?

We also ordered several dimsum dishes to share, Fried Shrimp Dumplings with Mayonnaise (15. 8K), Siew Long Bao (18.8K), and Siew Mai (15.8K).

Fried Shrimp Dumpling with Mayonnaise

Nice, crispy skin with a fresh shrimps inside.

Siew Mai

It is a halal Siew Mai and taste nothing special on it.

Xiao Long Bao

Siew Long Bao served in steaming hot bamboo basket with black vinegar with strips of ginger for a dipping. Its skin looked wrinkle and not soupy enough on the inside.

The Duck King always been favorite Chinese Food restaurant in mall, every their branch always packed especially on the weekend. Their foods are so variety from selections menu to one single dish, and all are halal. In my opinion the other The Duck King branches is better than MKG one, I think they still need improvement since they are new. Hopefully if we have a chance to revisit next other day, they would have already enhanced their service and foods.

Cheese Cake Factory

Located in Tebet with minimalist elegant concept of building, The Cheese Cake Factory is not only houses the cheese cakes stall, but also sell cheese ingredients based foods, mostly are Italian foods; pasta, pizza, bruschetta. They also served various selections of ice cream and desserts.

We went to Cheese Cake Factory together with two frenz of us. Indeed the place was cozy and nice to hang out, but their dining arrangement was not spacious enough. Make this place miserably packed on a Sunday's nite. Nicely, they have several outside dining table on their balcony.

For the drinks, we ordered Iced Tea (10K) and Hot English Breakfast Tea (10K) for my friends, Hot Teh Tarik (13K) for E, and Hot Chamomile Tea (10K) for me.

Actually this Hot Teh Tarik has milk foam on top, but E had finished already before I took the picture.lol.

Hot Chamomile Tea

Both of Hot English Breakfast Tea and Hot Chamomile Tea came up with a cup of hot water, tea bag, and several sugar packs.

French Fries

This nice tasty French Fries (18K) was started our meal. It came up with deep fried potato chips with melted mozzarella cheese.

Penne Pasta with Tuna

That nite I ordered Penne Pasta with Tuna (30K), is penne pasta with tuna stir in tomato sauce, white wine, black olives, and dried chili.

Fusili Arrabbiata

E ordered Fusili Arrabbiata (30K), is fusili stir in arrabbiata sauce, with slice fresh chili, black olive, topped with Parmesan cheese.

Fettuccine Seafood

Both of our frenz ordered Spaghetti Seafood (35K), and by our request the spaghetti can be replaced with fettuccine. I took photo only the fettuccine one. The pasta is satisfied enough, its cooked in al-dente, firm but not too hard and not overly soft.

BBQ Beef

And BBQ Beef (30K) to share. Actually, they serve pizza in two sizes; regular and large, but the regular should be enough for us. Like we expected, the pizza came up with generous size. This pizza was nice, since their bread is so tender and the topping was rich.

Blueberry Cheese Cake

Lastly, we decide to share one single slice of Blueberry Cheese Cake (17K) which one of their signature dish, for our dessert. The creamy, light and spongy cheesecake topped with blueberry jam, it was delightful.

The Cheese Cake Factory can be your alternative choice to buy birthday or occasional cakes for your someone special. Their cakes selection are so various, you can choose from their signature Cheese Cakes to other Classics, as well. I think their prices are still affordable.

For all cheese lover, it’s worth to give it a try. Try their cheesecake and you won’t regret it. And don't worry, their price is very affordable (^_^)..

DOME Cafe

Last Saturday we was invited by my friend for dinner, she said up till now DOME Café still has Bank Mandiri Promotion which 50% off for all foods & beverages.

After browsed their menu I decided to order Grilled Chicken Breast (58K), the waiter offered me four kind of sauces; BBQ Sauce, Black Pepper Sauce, Mushroom Sauce, and 'ugh' forgot the last one already sorry (^_^)hehe… I preferred BBQ sauce one. For this dish I also could choose types of potato; French Fries, Baked Potato, or Mashed Potato. Sadly, Baked and Mashed Potato was out of order on that nite, so no other choice I must have French Fries.

Grilled Chicken Breast

The chicken breast was so hard, quite disappointed cause the portion is not what we expected. And it’s just an ordinary BBQ sauce. This dish was not really good.

Tripple Decker Sandwich

E ordered Triple Decker Sandwich, its three pieces thick toast white breads stuffed with chickens, eggs, onion, lettuce, and mayonnaise. Served with French fries and a little salad.

Bacon & Beef Carbonara Penne

My friends ordered Beef and Bacon Penne Carbonara, and it came up with large serving, I didn’t know the taste but I saw she was enjoyed it.


Her boyfriend also ordered penne dish, it came up with large portion of pasta with chicken and Bolognese sauce, I forgot the name of this penne.

Pizza Salmon

For the last dish, we ordered pizza salmon to share, thin pizza topped with salmon, pineapple, and mozzarella cheese. Another dish let us down, we were not really enjoyed this pizza since its edge is really hard.

Hot Lemon Tea

For the drinks, I and E just ordered Hot Lemon Tea, its came with 1 piece of cookie for each glass (sorry its not shown in picture, coz the cookie just hide behind the glass hehe).

Mango Ice Tea

Its my friends ordered, a mix of mango juice and ice tea.

Overall, our first experience dine @ DOME Café was quite unsatisfied, with their foods and indolence services. Hope their services will be better when the next time we visit.

Japanese BBQ Restaurant Gyu-Kaku

Located in Plaza Indonesia 1st floor, Japanese BBQ Restaurant Gyu-Kaku is considered as one of the best Japanese Grill Restaurant. Gyu-Kaku Restaurant has another branch in Jakarta, which located in Pacific Place. Yesterday we just tried their branch in Plaza Indonesia.

Bundaran HI

The ambiance is really cozy and has romantic atmosphere with a great view of Bundaran HI (especially at nite). They arranged single table inside the chamber with drape and dreary lamp. The grill is placed inside the top of table and each chamber only can be seated 4-6 person.

Surely, their main menu is BBQ, but they served not only assorted usual BBQ meat (sausage, chicken, beef, lamb, fish), you can find the U.S. Kobe Beef here, which I believed it is the high quality and imported one and of course it’s pricy. In BBQ menu they also have vegetables and mushroom to grilled. The menu was all in Japanese and had plenty food choices; appetizers, salads, soups, noodles, and bimbimbab, desserts, etc.

Tantan Ramen

Since we are not meat lover and E still has sore throat, so we choose noodle selection menus. I always told E to try their Tantan Ramen (63K), so I ordered it. It is extra hot spicy ramen served with stone bowl, which serve up the ramen always warm. The ramen is good, soup base is thick, flavorful, and spicy hot. We like the soup taste very much, it’s so hot, so warming, so pleasing.

Karubi Udon

E ordered Karubi Udon (63K), it came with smaller ceramic bowl, but the portion is enough. The udon is so chewy, and the soup is less spicy than tantan soup. The udon is topped with egg, sliced beef, Japanese typed mushroom and vegetables.

Hot Ocha

Lastly, we just ordered hot ocha which is free of charge.

Japanese BBQ Restaurant Gyu-Kaku can be considered quite expensive restaurant, but it well equipped with the worth foods. All in all, it was a very enjoyable dinner with good food.

Kuppa Restaurant

Well, this will be my first posting bout restaurant review (^_^)v..Kuppa Restaurant @ Plaza Indonesia is Thailand cuisine with relatively adorable price. I guess this is the only one Kuppa in Jakarta, I can’t find any Kuppa branch here. Am I rite? Plz correct me if I’m wrong hehe…

The ambiance is quite cozy n the lighting a bit dreary, but sadly the sofa is shabby, some torn are patched using sticky tape (selotip). I thought they should consider renewing this sofa.

Rad Na Chicken

E ordered Rad Na Chicken (39.5K) is flat rice noodle (kwetiau) with chicken, mushroom, carrots, and veggie stir in gravy sauce. E said ‘it’s so yummy’, the sauce is tasty.

Pad Thai

I ordered Pad Thai (55.5K),is thin flat rice noodle (small kwetiau) with sliced tofu, shrimps,eggs, bean sprout stir fried in fish sauce and a bit tamarind juice and garnished with ground peanut. And served with a piece of lime. Its tasted good, not too oily but the shrimps are not fresh enough.


They prepared three kinds of chili. The first one on left side is sugar, maybe for their soup, Thailand typically soup is sour and hot. We used chili flakes (next to sugar), I suggest you take a bit of this chili flakes, coz it’s extremely hot.

Kuppa has plenty menus,there are appetizers like Thai Fish Cake (42.5K), Thai Prawn Cake (47.5K). Soups and curry selections, like Tom Yum Gong and Thai Oxtail Soup, there also Green Curry served with canai bread and many others. For their dessert you can choose Siam Ice Mix, and many others which can raise your appetite. However we decide not to have desserts, since we full already. Lastly, for the drinks we just ordered Aqua (10K).

The Start..

Well, I'm trying something new now to write a blog hehe...I still don't have much idea what to post in my blog. In this blog i'll try to review restaurants and movies, which I and my lovely E have a great time to enjoy it. I want to share and give you some ideas about good spots to spend a great time.

Beforehand Im sorry if this blog seems so mussy, i'm not good in writing and photography, but i'll try to make it better ok...
