Ah Chew Desserts

When it comes to a desserts in Singapore, this Ah Chew Dessert shouldn't be missed.. Located in Liang Seah Street, near to Bugis Junction.. This place is quite popular in Singapore..

Nothing fancy about the place, just like a traditional Chinese eatery..

They serve quite variety of desserts, from hot to cold dessert, and it reminds me of some desserts found in Hong Kong.. Ah Chew Dessert serves desserts in a traditional and healthy way.. Using a real fruits, fresh ingredients and not too sugary sweet..Unfortunately we're too full to try their other popular desserts like steamed milk pudding, peanut/black sesame paste, and many more.

I ordered Aloe Vera with Strawberry and Lime (SGD 3.80), sweet aloe vera chunks served with fresh cubes strawberry and lime served in cold.. First, you can taste the sourish lime and strawberry and later the sweet & crunchy aloe vera.. This kinda light, refreshing, and good for your body. Aloe vera is believed has a good nutritious for your skin..

E had this Pulut Hitam - Black Glutinous Rice Desserts (SGD 2.00), a sticky sweet hot black glutinous rice porridge topped with a swirl thick & creamy coconut milk.. This is a very filling dessert, mixed with coconut milk it simply gives a subtle creamy taste.. I loved its texture.. This dessert is delicious yet healthy, some studies say black glutinous rice has both fiber and loads of antioxidants which is very good for our body.

Add three Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball (SGD 1.00), and it's just perfect.. If you don't like black sesame, they have peanut filling glutinous rice ball..

I always love the healthy sweet desserts.. When you visit Singapore, come and give it a try.. Let's your taste buds experience it..

Hui Lau Shan

Back to more photos of Hong Kong foods.. I'm still not done yet, but this will be the final post on our Hong Kong trip.. And here's the well-known healthy dessert in Hong Kong, Hui Lau Shan.. Hui Lau Shan is one of Hong Kong best dessert restaurant I ever tasted and they're familiar with their fresh fruit drinks and mango desserts out there..

This is one of their stall in Mongkok near to our hotel.. They have many stalls spread all over Hong Kong..

Soo many dessert variations to choose, but their specialty is being anything with mango.. And other variations made from papayas, watermelon, honeydew, strawberry, and pineapples.. They also have some traditional Chinese desserts and savory snacks..

Just a simple, clean, and colorful stall..

I really luv this Hui Lau Shan, besides a lot of variation menu, they also maintain the freshness and delicacy of mango in every dish.. So no wonder almost everyday in Hong Kong we bought it.. Before I show you what we had there, I want to apologize that I can't remember the name of it and I also forgot about the price hehe, but I'm quite sure that the price is still affordable..

Even though I don't remember its name, but I still remember what's in it hehe.. E had a Honeydew with Aloe Vera Jelly (right one) and I had Pineapple with Aloe Vera and Sago Pearls (left one)..

The other day, I had this Mango with Strawberry and Aloe Vera.. It was a subtle hint of mango without being overly sweet..

And the last day, I had Strawberry and Mango with Glutinous Ball and Mango Ice Cream.. I asked them to separate the ice cream.. Mango puree blended with strawberry puree and topped with mango cubes, strawberry cubes, and glutinous balls.. Truly a wonderful combination, flavorful, and it's simply ingenious..

The mango ice cream which came with it was truly great, made from frozen mango puree and it was pure mango..

So, when you are planning to visit Hong Kong, don't forget to try Hui Lau Shan, really a great stop for healthy desserts.. I hope they'll have branches here in Jakarta someday hehe..

Red Mango

Dessert anyone? Who doesn't like healthy and delicious dessert? Fro-yo (frozen yogurt) stalls seem to be sprouting out in Jakarta.. Here's the newly opened, Red Mango fro-yo franchise from Korea, has opened on July in Mall Taman Anggrek..

Stylist and comfortable outlet, dominated by red colour..

The fro-yo available in 2 flavors; original and strawberry.. And for the level of sourness, the strawberry is more sour than the original one.. We decided to choose something in between, twist flavor..

E ordered small size Strawberry Twist (28K) with mochi topping.. This sweet and tangy fro-yo was thick and creamy.. The texture was smooth with a slight sourish taste..

Doesn't it look sooo yummyy?? I ordered medium size Strawberry Twist (38K).. The medium size came with two toppings by our own choice. I truly enjoyed this with its peach & mochi, and its mildly-sweet flavor..

What a lovely colorful mochi.. We loved the texture of mochi, it was softer and fluffier that what one gets at Sour Sally.. So we add more extra topping, Mochi (8K)..

For us, Red Mango fro-yo is nice and we really love their mochi.. They'll open other branches in Grand Indonesia and Emporium soon..

J.CO Donuts & Coffee

Another yogurt ice cream by J.CO Donuts & Coffee.. J.Co only has one original flavor, and they has smaller choice of toppings than Sour Sally..

We bought single yogurt with 2 toppings - choco cornflake and strawberry (20K).. J.CO yogurt tasted ok, but I prefer to Sour Sally coz its tasted more yogurt/sour-sweet for me and has many variations of topping.. For the price, J.CO is cheaper than Sour Sally...

Sour Sally

Craving for dessert? And want a healthy one? Sour Sally Yogurt Bar should be a right choice.

Comes in two flavors; plain is natural yogurt flavor, and green tea yogurt flavor. Moreover they also serve blend of plain and green tea - a twist. The yogurt is customizable to be combined with your choice of topping. They have diverse topping raging from fresh fruit to cereal, chocolate and even mochi. You can mixed any topping whatever u like with an additional charge.

Because we had a dinner before, so that day we just shared a Small Twist Combo (25K), included one topping, we opted red mochi..Chewy..chewy, nice hehe... And add one more topping – Peach (6.3K).

Small Twist Combo

Looked just like a plain yogurt, but its really a blend between green tea and plain one. The toppings are generous. The texture so smooth, tasted sweet and sour, its really refreshing, and don’t worry its 100% fat free.

So far, you can only find Sour Sally in Senayan City and La Codefin. In my opinion the price is a bit pricey, but its worth enough since its US Premium Frozen Yogurt and they also serve good and fresh toppings. Next time I will try the bigger size (^_^).

New Chapter

Located on the corner spot with green elegant design and artificial tree inside, this New Chapter Restaurant gives a leafy ambiance, yet cozy.

New Chapter Restaurant run by Healthy Choice, serves organic healthy foods, it suits you who really care about diet and health. People usually think organic healthy foods are not interested at all, but don’t give a quick judge to this restaurant, New Chapter success to bring out healthy foods with a delicious taste.

Many selection of foods you can enjoy here; Asian, Western, and Indonesian foods. Even you can also enjoy several ‘Jajanan Pasar’ (5-10K) as desserts in healthy way.

Iced Tea

For the drink, E ordered Iced Tea (15K), served with liquid sugar, both came with nice glass.

Rapsberry Leaf Tea

and a refill Rapsberry Leaf Tea (25K) for me.

Tom Yum Pasta

E choosed Tom Yam Pasta (35K), it’s a fusion Thai and Italian style, quite unique isn’t it? For this dish you can choose type of pasta you like, E tried fettuccine one. It is fettuccine stir with tom yam paste, topped with fresh prawns and two toasted garlic bread as side dish. Looks like dry tom yam noodle but the taste is unique a bit spicy and not oily.

Mie Godog Jawa

That night, I interested to try Mie Godog Jawa (35K). It came in a big portion with a unique plate, it’s a sautéed yellow noodle with cabbage, vegetable, squid, shrimp, and egg stir in gravy sauce. I love this gravy sauce, is tasty.

Hot Ginger with Mochi

For the dessert, we shared Hot Ginger with Mochi - Wedang Ronde (20K). One portion come with only three mochi, before I ordered it the waiter said the mochi was filled by black sesame. But when we ate it, the feeling is ground peanut with a bit cinnamon flavour. This mochi was not really nice, its sticky and not chewy at all, but their ginger soup is good. Its really good to warm up your body

Overall, New Chapter Restaurant is a good place to get yummy foods yet healthy. Their price is a slightly higher, maybe because of a good quality and organic ingredients they used it. In my opinion is worth enough.
