Aji-Tei @ Singapore

Yup.. I haven't done with Singapore's food post yet.. So, let's we continue shall we? As I said before there are many Japanese restaurants around Singapore, and these restaurants not only specialized in Japanese foods but also in Japanese desserts.. When it come to the desserts, Japanese really has a passion of it.. They create the dessert so fancy, delicate, colorful, and also healthy way..

So when I still in Singapore, why don't I give it a try? And this time I took my mom to try it in Aji-Tei Japanese Cuisine & Dessert House in Takashimaya..

We were looking at the menu and we can't decide what to eat, it's hard to choose.. All is good, so colorful, and look delicious.. The pictures on menu really tempt us to try everything! haha..

Aji-Tei has a pleasant environment with the minimalist black furniture..

My mom ordered this Matcha Parfait (SGD 7.80), it includes the yummy goodness of red bean paste, cornflakes, jelly, whipped cream, matcha ice cream, and mochi.. The ice cream itself is very creamy, smooth, and light.. It's a blend of bitter green tea and sweet milk.. This parfait had a rich matcha flavor and was very delicious, I love anything matcha flavor haha.. Trust me it tasted good as it looked!

Next is my Anmitsu (SGD 4.80), is a Japanese traditional dessert made of small cubes of translucent jelly and served with red bean paste, mochi, glutinous rice balls, and slices fruits of peach and orange poured with sweet sauce..

This restaurant is not only serve Japanese desserts but also varies Japanese cuisine, so we also try their Ebi Prawn Tempura (SGD 10.80), deep fried prawn in tempura batter..
The tempura was pretty good, the prawn was sweet and fresh.. In fact it was so crunchy that you can hear the crackly bite..

I think Aji-Tei is a decent place to enjoy a wide variety of Japanese dessert and cuisine in Singapore.. I just wonder whether this Aji-Tei is the same as Aji-Tei Restaurant in Pacific Place? Hmm I'll find out later when I visit Aji-Tei in Pacific Place hehe..

MOF Japanese Sweets & Coffee

When it comes to desserts, everybody would be excited even after a filling main meal.. We were not any different.. So who doesn't like desserts? Last week I found MOF Japanese Desserts has opened their first branch in Jakarta @ Plaza Indonesia Extension, so we've been curious to try it..

We've been there twice in a week since they opened, coz they served a large variety of Japanese desserts and when we were looking at the menu, we can't decide what to eat!! We want to try everything!! So we gave it another visit and here's all dishes that we've tried..

Situated in Plaza Indonesia Extension on 2nd floor, the open concept do not give any form of privacy. People wandering around, can see what you eat, how you eat.. But the place is quite comfy to chit chat..

With a colorful furniture is attracting patrons, while the sofas letting customers to sit back, relax, and enjoy their sweet desserts..

Started with a cup of Hot Tea (10K)..

Matcha Zen (33K), red bean soup with a dollop green tea ice cream and some glutinous balls topped with almond flakes.. A sweet red bean balanced with a bitter green tea ice cream, such a perfect match and soo Japanese.. This is recommended definitely..

We also shared their hot dessert Abekawa (45K), it's an oven baked mochi sprinkled with soybean flour and with read bean paste underneath.. This kind a new to my tasting experience, I never had baked mochi before.. We loved the outer layer of baked mochi which is crispy and light where else the inside is chewy and springy, but the read bean was too sweet for our liking.. I think its best to eat while its still hot as once its get cold, the inside mochi become kinda hard to chew..

Next is Shiraan (29.5K), a mixed of fresh peach, strawberry, kanteen jelly, glutinous balls, mochi, and red bean paste drizzled with some honey.. The jelly was really bland, but its went well with the honey poured over it..

E wanted to try Gelato Mini Black Sesame (29.5K), a scoop black sesame gelato with glutinous balls and drizzled with black sesame sauce.. Mmm yummy, I lurve their gelato, its no sugar added, free preservatives and food colours.. Oh ya I'm also enjoy their glutinous balls, it has a nice texture and so chewy..

And we have this Matcha Sundae (32.5K), a waffle served with matcha gelato and vanilla soft ice cream drizzled with matca sauce.. The waffle wasn't that large but it tasted ok..

From their main course, we tried this Egg & Tonkatsu Salmon Sandwich (35K), egg and fried salmon filled in toasted whole wheat breads served with chips and fruit salad.. This is just a simple toast, but it's quite tasty.. The portion was moderate but I think its better to use french fries instead of chips..

All I like here is every desserts and main courses are prepared by fresh real fruits and ingredients.. I really enjoy the wide array of Japanese desserts here.. A little pricey but definitely worth every cent you pay for.. Will definitely come back again trying other stuffs! So guys, go satisfy your sweet tooth and let your taste buds experience it..

Hui Lau Shan

Back to more photos of Hong Kong foods.. I'm still not done yet, but this will be the final post on our Hong Kong trip.. And here's the well-known healthy dessert in Hong Kong, Hui Lau Shan.. Hui Lau Shan is one of Hong Kong best dessert restaurant I ever tasted and they're familiar with their fresh fruit drinks and mango desserts out there..

This is one of their stall in Mongkok near to our hotel.. They have many stalls spread all over Hong Kong..

Soo many dessert variations to choose, but their specialty is being anything with mango.. And other variations made from papayas, watermelon, honeydew, strawberry, and pineapples.. They also have some traditional Chinese desserts and savory snacks..

Just a simple, clean, and colorful stall..

I really luv this Hui Lau Shan, besides a lot of variation menu, they also maintain the freshness and delicacy of mango in every dish.. So no wonder almost everyday in Hong Kong we bought it.. Before I show you what we had there, I want to apologize that I can't remember the name of it and I also forgot about the price hehe, but I'm quite sure that the price is still affordable..

Even though I don't remember its name, but I still remember what's in it hehe.. E had a Honeydew with Aloe Vera Jelly (right one) and I had Pineapple with Aloe Vera and Sago Pearls (left one)..

The other day, I had this Mango with Strawberry and Aloe Vera.. It was a subtle hint of mango without being overly sweet..

And the last day, I had Strawberry and Mango with Glutinous Ball and Mango Ice Cream.. I asked them to separate the ice cream.. Mango puree blended with strawberry puree and topped with mango cubes, strawberry cubes, and glutinous balls.. Truly a wonderful combination, flavorful, and it's simply ingenious..

The mango ice cream which came with it was truly great, made from frozen mango puree and it was pure mango..

So, when you are planning to visit Hong Kong, don't forget to try Hui Lau Shan, really a great stop for healthy desserts.. I hope they'll have branches here in Jakarta someday hehe..

Pancious - revisit

Seems like I visit Pancious quite often.. This time I went back with my mom, bro, and E..

Almost every time I'm back to Pancious, I always order my fave pancake here.. I never get bored with their Blueberry Cheese Pancake - Single Stack (27K), a fluffy pancake came with blueberry sauce, cheese fudge on top and served with a scoop vanilla ice cream.. The pancake really goes well with these toppings..

Next, we ordered Waffle Burger (37K), its such a big dish, even bigger than a usual burger with buns hehe..

Stuffed with beef patty, cheese, and lettuce in two waffles.. The burger had a reasonably well made beef patty which quite marinated and juicy on the inside..

The other my fave dish here is Fettuccine Mushroom (42K), fettuccine with sauteed mushroom in cream sauce topped with deep fried mushrooms.. The cream sauce is just right for my liking, not too thick and I loved the mushrooms, and they're generous with it..

And we also shared this Smoked Beef Spaghetti (41.5K), spaghetti sauteed with smoked beef and mushroom in aglio olio style.. Simply but tasty..

Modern Toilet

As I said, here's our food journey in Hong Kong... I'm sure there's no this type of restaurant in Jakarta yet.. Modern Toilet Restaurant is a full on toilet theme restaurant comes from Taiwan, they have two branches already in Hong Kong.. They open from 12AM-12PM, so don't plan your breakfast to this restaurant..

The colorful entrance, do you notice the lamp hanging on the ceiling? It is a feces like lamp and there also some huge toilet pumps hanging on the ceiling too..

The interesting menu, full of funny and interesting foods.. The menu is raging from Western to Asian selections..

So many tantalizing choices on the menu, since its impossible for us to order all.. So here it is, I give you some shots from the menu..

Feels like in the toilet.. You'll sit on a stylish acrylic toilet..

The seat, the table, the decoration, the bowl, the glass, everything they set up in toilet related decor.. And everyone dines at a glass table with a sink or bathtub underneath..The waiters will serve your meal on a mini toilet bowl or others mini toilet dishware.. Soo unique and adorable yaa...

Kiwi Juice (HKD 20/IDR 26K), fresh kiwi juice in mini urinal toilet..

Cute or eeuwwh? hehe.. But the juice is refreshing with kiwi chunks on it..

We started with this Dinosaurs' Egg (HKD 30/IDR 39K).. Haha curious what is it? it's a chicken corn nugget, its really tasty thou.. We like this a lot..

E ordered Bacon Baked Spaghetti (HKD 60/IDR 78K), baked spaghetti and pork bacon topped with melted mozzarella serve in mini cute bathtub..

This cream corn soup with garlic breads come in one set menu with this baked spaghetti..

For the dessert, my frenz ordered this huge Chocolate Ice Mix (HKD 40/IDR 52K), chocolate ice shaved topped with biscuits, jelly, chocolate paste, chocolate chips, and chocolate ice cream.. It was fun digging the ice shaved to find out what is the inside.. The inside is all bout chocolate and really a complete dessert..

Looks on the other side..

So u decide its appetizing or yucky?.. What do you think? I know it sounds a bit 'yucky' but trust me the food was quite nice.. Should they open in Jakarta? Hehe.. Ok guys, till then more updates again about Hong Kong foods in next post..

Red Mango

Dessert anyone? Who doesn't like healthy and delicious dessert? Fro-yo (frozen yogurt) stalls seem to be sprouting out in Jakarta.. Here's the newly opened, Red Mango fro-yo franchise from Korea, has opened on July in Mall Taman Anggrek..

Stylist and comfortable outlet, dominated by red colour..

The fro-yo available in 2 flavors; original and strawberry.. And for the level of sourness, the strawberry is more sour than the original one.. We decided to choose something in between, twist flavor..

E ordered small size Strawberry Twist (28K) with mochi topping.. This sweet and tangy fro-yo was thick and creamy.. The texture was smooth with a slight sourish taste..

Doesn't it look sooo yummyy?? I ordered medium size Strawberry Twist (38K).. The medium size came with two toppings by our own choice. I truly enjoyed this with its peach & mochi, and its mildly-sweet flavor..

What a lovely colorful mochi.. We loved the texture of mochi, it was softer and fluffier that what one gets at Sour Sally.. So we add more extra topping, Mochi (8K)..

For us, Red Mango fro-yo is nice and we really love their mochi.. They'll open other branches in Grand Indonesia and Emporium soon..
