Fisherman

Fisherman, from its name you can guess this is a seafood restaurant yaa?.. But not only a seafood, they also serve a halal Chinese food including Hong Kong porridge and dim sum till midnite..

The place is just like others Chinese restaurant, spacious, modern, and simple..

It's certainly cozy and comfy enough to enjoy your meal..

For the dim sum we opted Siew Mai (12.8K), it's a chicken and shrimp siew mai.. So-so only..

Beef Porridge (25.8K) and Fried Cruller (7.8K).. It's plain and simple but tasty! The porridge was pretty good, it was thick and smooth, and there were plenty of sliced beef inside too.. Never forget the crispy crullers to go with..

Still not enough, we ordered Tom Yum Kway Teow (29.8K), kway teow stirred with seafood in gravy tom yum sauce.. It seems like a black pepper gravy yaa..

I didn't taste any tom yum flavour on it, but the kway teow has a nice chewy texture and had generous fresh seafood ingredients.. It kinda nice if you are those who likes gravy stuff like me hehe..

If it's a Chinese food you're looking for while wandering around Kelapa Gading area, you should probably think of checking out Fisherman located in Kelapa Gading Boulevard and easily spotted from Mall Kelapa Gading..

Tian Xi

Tian Xi is a Chinese restaurant situated in Senayan City shopping mall, and this restaurant is run by the same management like The Red Duck Restaurant in FX..

The place was a typical Chinese restaurant, spacious yet comfy dining area..

Simple and modern interior style..

The food here is quite various, they have some dim sum selections, single dish menu, and also complimentary dishes.. But that nite I was not really in the mood for dim sum..

But E was curious with this Otak-otak Fried Cheong Fun with XO Sauce (16K) from their dim sum selections.. It's a pan fried cheong fun filled with otak-otak and topped with fried salty fish.. Otak-otak is like a fish cake with a mix of spices.. Actually the dish came out pretty well, the otak-otak was a bit spicy and fragrant..

Not to forget the greens.. We ordered Belacan Water Spinach - Kangkung Terasi (35K), water spinach stir-fried with a shrimp paste/belacan.. It was a slightly spicy, pungent, and fragrant, the water spinach was also crunchy and fresh..

Hmm What is this? Haha it looks nice yaa.. It's a Tian Xi Fried Tofu (42K), a homemade tofu bowl stuffed with stirred seafood and braised in starch thickened oyster sauce.. I think this is one of their special menu, and the dish has a unique appearance..

Open up and see a generous ingredients inside the tofu bowl.. It's a stirred mix seafood and mushroom and carrot.. The tofu has a very smooth texture, and the seafood inside was nicely stir-fried and fresh.. Definitely, the best dish of the dinner this time..

We also shared Sliced Beef and Fish Congee (45K) and of course what's best to match it with is a Fried Cruller/Cakwe (5K).. The congee was boiled till soft and fine, the beef and fish was cooked with congee gives a sweet and flavorsome dish..

All in all, we had a nice dinner in Tian Xi.. Tian Xi restaurant serves a decent range of dim sum and Chinese foods for fairly decent price.. It's good to try..

Ta Wan

Thinking of what to eat @ Pacific Place has always been a headache with an overwhelming choices of restaurant.. Finally we choose Ta Wan, one of our favorite Chinese family restaurant.. Even though Ta Wan is not a new restaurant, but they still maintain their dishes tasteful and appetizing..

Spacious dining area with large dining tables, suit for family dinner.. Clean and neatly arranged..

What's on our dinner?

We had Chicken & Fish Congee - Large (13.5K) to share.. The congee was boiled till soft and fine.. Fragrant and really nice to eat with Fried Crullers/Cakwe (6K)..

Belacan Fried Fish (28.5K), slices fried barramundi/kakap fish cooked in sambal belacan (dry shrimp paste) sauce.. The sauce was quite tangy, sweet and had a light spiciness on it, and went well with the fried barramundi/kakap fish.. The fish was fresh, no fishy smell..

Next, we had Tofu Omelette with Chicken (24K), deep fried tofu omelette topped with spicy chicken gravy sauce.. The omelette was crispy at the edge, the gravy was thick and flavourful..

This is one of the restaurants that we always enjoy having Chinese food.. The service here is ok, and the food is wholesome and affordable for families.. Do Try..

Ocean Empire

Back to more photos of Hong Kong, I’m still not done yet! When we in Hong Kong, surely we won't miss one of Hong Kong's popular and local delicacies, congee.. Lighter than rice make the congee easier to stomach, such a humble dish.. Here's one of famous eatery for local taste congee, Ocean Empire..

The shop is decorated in simple way, tidy, and clean.. It may not be easy to get the seat during peak hours..

She was making a rice rolls, and they maintain the hygiene and cleanness in the kitchen.. That's really good..

So far, in Jakarta we only familiar with a savory kinds of congee, but this local eatery serves not only the savory one but there some kinds of sweet congee, they put pumpkin and sweet corn on it.. I saw many local people loved this dish, but we still opted the savory one. They cook congees with many different choices healthy and fresh ingredients..

E ordered this Sotong/Cuttlefish Congee, they put a lot sotong/cuttlefish on it.. Its tasted really good, and E loved it, he said he hasn't found out kind of congee in Jakarta so far..

And I choose this Fish Congee, looked nothing different with the cuttlefish congee yaa hehe..

But dig it you'll find out generous fresh fish slices.. The porridge was smooth and tasty..

This was so crispy... Fried Cruller/Chinese Doughnut, always have a fried cruller to dip into the congee.. Its really nice, crunchy but soft on the inside, really goes well with the congee..

We also ordered this Rice Rolls with Chinese Doughnut, we drizzled it with soy sauce.. The rice rolls was smooth, thin, and as always the Chinese Doughnut was crispy..

Not only congees, they also famous with their local Cantonese snacks, deep fried Chinese doughnut/crullers, twisted doughnut, fried sesame ball, and ricesheet roll/chee zhong fun..

Ocean Empire provides the good traditional Cantonese dishes at the least price.. I'm always come here when I'm in Hong Kong, they really have a Cantonese local taste.. This eatery also quite familiar to Indonesian tourist, you'll find many Indonesian tourist eat here..

Crab House

Crab House, a new Chinese restaurant just opened recently @ Plaza Senayan.. At the first time, I thought they only specialized on crab or seafood dishes.. However, they offer a wide variety of Chinese food choices ranging from dim sum to porridge, noodle and other main dishes..

The interior is really red ^o^, I’ll have to say their setup is pretty neat and pack..

Open kitchen concept..

For the starter, we ordered Steamed Szechuan dumplings (14.8K), steamed dumplings with chili sauce, the chili is tasty and its nice..

Chicken & Mushroom Porridge (28K), they used sauteed chicken instead of plain steamed chicken.. The texture is a bit watery for us, but tasted ok..

Always had Fried Cruller (5.8K) to go with porridge..

Next, Seafood Tofu Hotplate (58K), came with an egg base..love it...

There still number of dishes which tempted us, so we'll back...

The Red Duck

The Red Duck is modern Chinese Restaurant located in FX, which is famous for their roast duck. But since I don't really like duck, we gave it a try with their others menu.. They have two menu books, so no wonder their menu variety is huge til we need to take time to read through it. It's really confusing as most of the food generate our interest.

The decor is very modern.. Nice and comfort..

Started with their compliment.. I didn't really know what is it, I think it was anchovies (ikan teri) peanut glazed with sugar and sesame.. Sweet, salty, crunchy.. Nice..

Hot Chinese Tea - Chrysanthemum (14K - 2pax)

We shared this smooth and soft Fish & Century Egg Congee (33K), and I asked them to separate the century egg - telur pitan..

Feel not complete, having congee without Fried Cruller (5K).

We also ordered some dim sum such this Xiao Long Bao (14.8K), their xiao long bao was using chicken instead of pork but yet still nice..

Next is Steam Shrimp Stuffed Tofu - Tahu Isi Udang Dim Sum (12K). It's bean curd with shrimp and gravy sauce, the shrimp was really fresh...

Spicy Stuffed Tofu - Tahu Isi Pedas (18K). Looks just like usual fried tofu with sweet & sour sauce.

Look the inside, what do you find...yup it's chilli padi - cabe rawit, so that's why it called spicy...so be careful when you bite hehe..

They have many tempting desserts, but we were so full to order it.. Here I grab some picture of it...(^_^). The dinner was superb and there still many dishes we haven't try it so we'll be back for sure..
